Glossary
What is price architecture?
How a brand's or category's products are distributed across price tiers, such as value, mid-market, premium and luxury.
Definition
Price architecture describes the shape of an assortment by price point: how many products sit in each tier and how that shape changes over time.
How Data Purl measures it
Data Purl places each product into a price tier within its own category, so a $60 T-shirt and a $60 coat are judged against their own peers, then tracks tier shares weekly.
Why it matters
A shift up the tiers can indicate premiumisation or price increases. A shift down can indicate a push for volume or trading down by consumers.
