What we capture: a retailer page beside its Data Purl record

Three real product pages, from Dick's Sporting Goods, Home Depot and Ocado, shown as captured beside the same product's weekly Data Purl record. Every field on the page is linked to the field in the record: name, brand and listed owner, category, pack size, list price, markdown price, price paid, markdown breadth and depth, and reviews.

Retailer pages captured on 30 September 2026; records from STRUCTURED_PRODUCT for the week starting 21 September 2026. A fixed example, not a live feed. Click a numbered marker on the page, or a field in the record, to link the two.

How to read the record

The record holds one row per product, per retailer, per week. Retailer sites are captured several times a week, and each figure in the row is the average of that week's captures: average listed price, average price paid, average number of SKUs listed each day. A SKU is one purchasable variant, such as one colour in one size. Each markdown shown here ran through the whole record week and was still live when the page was captured.

Why this matters

A one-off scrape can read a price off a page. The record adds what makes it usable for analysis: the same product tracked every week, SKUs counted across colours and sizes, markdowns measured for breadth and depth, the retailer's menu mapped to one category tree, and the brand resolved to its current owner and ticker.
